The False Sun Characters — Who They Are And What They Want
Meet the characters of The False Sun — Silas, Kyle, and the people behind its 20 endings. Who they are, what they want, and how each one shapes your route.
Most visual novels have characters. The False Sun has leverage. Almost everyone in it exists to change what you are allowed to do later — which is why the same scene can end four different ways depending on who you talked to first.
This page is the index. Who each character is, what they want from you, and which parts of the game they actually control.
If you have not played yet: nothing below reveals plot twists, but it does name relationships. The Guide → is the better first stop.
Silas
The farm boy waiting at the gate when you arrive, and the character every one of the 20 endings runs through.
- Role: Primary antagonist and sole companion
- Appears in: Every route — he controls 19 of the 20 endings
- Wants: To be the only thing in your life that has nowhere else to go. Not to hurt you — to keep you. That distinction is the whole game.
- The tell: He asks more than he answers. He is always already there. He has no life outside the farm.

Kyle
Kyle is the one relationship in The False Sun that does not run through Silas. He turns up during a break from farm work, makes a self-deprecating joke, asks you nothing, and never checks whether you answered warmly.
- Role: The only outside contact
- Appears in: The case rescue endings (10 and 11), and referenced throughout
- Wants: Nothing from you — which is exactly why Silas treats him as a threat
- Why he matters: Warmth toward Kyle, combined with coldness toward Silas, is what opens the only two endings where someone else is in the room when it ends
- The trap: Being dismissive to Kyle locks both endings permanently, and there is no recovery later
His route is covered scene by scene in the Walkthrough → Kyle path section.
Everyone Else
Two characters carry every line of dialogue in the game. Everyone else in the story exists as backstory rather than scenes — your grandfather died before the first screen and is the reason Silas is on the farm at all, and the village that shunned Silas is something Kyle describes after the fact, never something you visit.
What that means in practice: every branch in The False Sun is decided by two relationships — yours with Silas, and yours with Kyle. The four hidden stats are just how both of them take your measure.
Which Character Controls Which Branch
| Character | What They Control | Endings |
|---|---|---|
| Silas | Every fork after the pier — the run sequence, the barn, the nightmare, the fire scene | 1–9, 12–20 |
| Kyle | Whether anyone outside the farm can reach you | 10, 11 |
| Your grandfather | Backstory only — his death is the reason Silas is there | None directly |
| The village | Nothing you can act on — context for Silas, delivered by Kyle | None directly |
